2 bad.

Kinja'd!!!

The live aisles are a huge success!!

Kinja'd!!!

I’ll probably ditch the “tool shelf” and build something to hold more black&yellow totes. The 7ft step will be replaced with an 8ft step, and the tiny step stool will be taken out.

I really like this whole thing, I just went thru the old posts.
I liked the greenery, why not add a strip of green back to the top, where the walls meet the ceiling? I know it’s unnecessary, but stuff like that can add to quality of life. If that’s something you like, obviously. If not, nvm. G ood job on the unit.

Man, I am psyched that this worked out so well. Mobile/l ive aisles (whatever t he proper term is ) are something that have fascinated me ever since I first noticed them behind the counter of my local AutoZone. I’m kinda jealous that I don’t have a space to actually implement them.

What do you mean? Like multiple layers for multiple bikes or it has to be high enough to be seen over something?

I hear you. Luckily I’ve got a pickup bed to build some drawers into as well . But after that.... No fun projects in sight :(

It bothers me when I drive by other people's storage unit's and they're a mess

light timber applications are kind of tricky. at least in architectural applications for dead loads (static, permanent) timber can only be loaded to 80% of its capacity. live loads on timber, iirc, are good for 100% of its rating, and temporary/instantaneous loading is good for 115%? don’t quote me on those last two figures before engineering your project.

but i digress. essentially, wood deflects and sags over time so if you’re intending on keeping the loading long-term, it’s always better to overbuild with light timber. so 1/2" OSB and 2x4's probably was the right call.

I’m going to show these to my wife.  She is an organizer, and I think these will make her all warm and fuzzy inside.

I’m glad you included that second paragraph, so I could use that info t o decipher the first paragraph.

Finally picked up a welder, cannot wait to add that to the arsenal in the fight against cluttered spaces!

They are the cheapest thing I could find on Amazon that didn’t look like complete junk. 600lb rating for 4, and with 6 underneath at most 300lbs,  I think they’ll work out pretty well!
